Concrete finishers, also known as cement finishers or cement masons, place, level, and finish concrete, from flatwork and foundations to high-rise, precast, and decorative work. It is a skilled trade, distinct from general concrete labour, and pay reflects the certification and finishing skill a journeyperson brings. This guide sets out what it pays.
The official wage band
Job Bank classifies this trade under NOC 73100, Concrete finishers. It is a dedicated, single-occupation code, so the figures cover the finishing trade cleanly. These are the official hourly wages in Canada, low to high, updated November 19, 2025.
| Level | Hourly |
|---|---|
| Low | $24.50 |
| Median | $34.00 |
| High | $43.47 |
Reported averages sit around $30.51 an hour, and the top of the band reflects the certified journeyperson finisher.
Reading the band
The band is wide because it spans an apprentice near the floor and a certified journeyperson running decorative, precast, and high-rise finishing at the top. Read the upper end as the Red Seal and decorative-finish end, where power-trowel work, formwork, and stamped and exposed-aggregate finishes are part of the job.
What lifts your pay
- Red Seal certification and journeyperson status
- Decorative work: stamped, exposed-aggregate, and polished finishes
- Precast and high-rise finishing, and formwork and grade experience
- Curing, sealing, and waterproofing skills, and running the power trowel and screed
Reading the ranges
These bands cover NOC 73100, the concrete finishing trade, which is distinct from the general concrete labourer or helper role. Apprentices sit near the floor. Certified journeyperson finishers with decorative and precast experience sit toward the ceiling, and Ontario and British Columbia show some of the highest bands in the country.
